This international recognition highlights the innovation and significant impact of D-VERSE, a digital asset marketplace that redefines the traditional business model of the banking sector and enhances financial literacy among its customers.
The D-VERSE project is a marketplace for digital collectibles, where customers can purchase collectibles using fiat currency, thereby democratising access to the growing demand in this market. Fully developed in partnership with Celfocus and supported by a secure blockchain network (Polygon), D-VERSE has already attracted over 300 registered users, establishing BPI as a pioneer in integrating new technologies in the banking sector.
Unlike typical NFT platforms requiring cryptocurrency, D-VERSE allows purchases with fiat currency, making it accessible to traditional bank clients. The platform's user-friendly design and comprehensive marketplace, including both primary and secondary markets, cater to a broad audience.
Teresa Silva Sousa, BPI's Director of Innovation, stated: “D-VERSE clearly demonstrates BPI's commitment to the digital economy, strategically positioning us in the emerging world of Web3. By democratising access to digital assets, we are exploring new business models and testing emerging technologies that could have a significant impact on the banking sector. This award reflects our vision of adynamic and leading bank, reaffirming our ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation in banking.”
Blockchain solutions have gained popularity through DeFi trends, giving banks the potential to offer several products and services to their clients, despite technological challenges like access, ownership, and custody. The emergence of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) is also noteworthy with the adoption of these digital currencies by central banks and banks alike, in the form of wholesale and retail CBDCs.
Celfocus has defined enterprise applications and private ledgers as the cornerstone of its blockchain offer to meet the demands of enterprise clients.
Leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as web3, blockchain, and low code, D-VERSE stands out for being easy to use and familiarity with digital transaction experiences. Transactions of digital collectables are recorded on blockchain, ensuring information accuracy and data traceability.
“This award showcases the power of collaboration and innovation,” said Bruno Silva Santos, Global Business Development Director at Celfocus. “We share a common vision with BPI to transform the banking sector through technology. D-VERSE is an excellent example of how strategic collaboration between technology and banking can yield innovative solutions that meet current consumer needs.”
